Before real money is taken, a lawyer should confirm: whether paid entry with cash prizes needs a licence in Kenya, how player money may be held, and whether the site must be registered under the Data Protection Act.

Refunds and prizes

When your entry fee comes back, and how prizes are paid. Version 2026-10-09.

You get your entry fee back when

  • The tournament is cancelled.
  • The admin removes you before the draw.
  • You paid but the tournament was already full or closed by the time your payment arrived.

You do not get it back when

  • You leave or stop playing after the draw.
  • You are removed for cheating or breaking the rules.

How refunds are paid

Refunds are sent to your M-Pesa number by Arena, usually within 2 working days. You get a notification with the M-Pesa reference when it is sent. Please make sure the phone number on your profile is right.

How prizes work

  • The prize pool is the money paid in, minus Arena's 10% site fee. You can see the amounts before you pay.
  • When the final is approved, prizes are held for a short time so problems can be raised, then released by the tournament admin.
  • Arena then sends each prize to the winner by M-Pesa and records the reference. If a player reports a problem, the site owner can hold the payouts until it is solved.

If something is wrong with a payment

If you pay less than the entry fee you are not entered, and the admin and site owner are told so the money can be returned or topped up. If you were charged but are not shown as entered, wait a few minutes, then use "Report a problem" on the tournament with your Paystack reference.
